Pet Peeve

It seems as if I'm sick a lot, and I do blame it on my job. The kids I work with are always sick. A pet peeve I have with the place I work at is the parents who refuse to take care of their children when they are sick. There are a few parents who they are even afraid to call because the parent usually goes off on them. I understand that parents don't want to take off work all the time, but is it really a lot to ask to have you take your kid to the doctor because he has pink eye? This was the case with one parent in particular, and she complained about it until she saw his eyes. The past few weeks, hand, foot, and mouth disease has been going around. Another teacher noticed that the kid that had the pink eye before, had hand, foot, and mouth, and since the other teacher didn't want to say he had it because she was afraid to call the parent, I had to after she left. This parent went off on me about having to come and pick up her son a half hour early from daycare. She is crazy! She did take him to the doctor, and he did have it. At least she took him to the doctor. A lot of parents were hesitant to do so, and a few didn't at all. Everyone got it because parents still brought their kids, and the director said they had to have the fever and that it didn't spread once they had the spots. That is hard to believe since it seemed as if it was spread after the sopts arrived. The kids are all very oral. We sanitized everything. None of the adults got it. I believe this is my second cold since working there. I like certain aspects of this job compared to my old job, but darnit, these parents who don't want to take care of their sick children frustrate me, and it is unlike any other place I've worked at as far as that goes. Thanks for listening to my little rant
